3 Moves Drill for Reflex Development
The 3 Moves Drill: This drill has 2 functions, First is The Attacker, Giver, Instructor or Striker , The Second is the Defender, Receiver, Student or Blocker function.
All the Attacker/Instructor needs to do is to give or use Strikes 1,2,3,4,6 and 7, Or 2 upper strikes, 2 lower strikes and 2 side thrusts. The strikes are based from the 12 Strikes of Applied Eskrima.
Everytime the Instructor/Attacker delivers a strike, the Student/Defender will block with his stick, then returns a strike. The Instructor/Attacker will then defend with his stick and then extend his left hand/empty hand towards the middle. The Student/Defender will then meet that hand in the middle as well and continue with the other 5 strikes or movements.
The whole sequence: A. Instructor/Attacker will strike using number 1 strike from his right side(upper strike). The Student/Defender will defend using his stick and return an upper strike. The Instructor/Attacker will then extend his left hand/empty hand towards the middle, then the Student/Defender will meet that hand with his own left hand or empty hand... The same sequence of moves will be repeated again for the next 5 different strikes....
Do this drill standing still at first, then start to speed up still standing still.
Once you can go at medium to fast speed at standing still, both parties must start to move forward and backwards with the Instructor/Attacker initiating the first footwork....... Have a good training day !
