6 Left Hand Blocks and First Block
The next several videos will show the 6 Left Hand Blocks for an incoming strike or hit while holding the stick.
There are times where you must draw back the stick to prepare for a counter strike. Using the Left Hand to defend or block will make it easier to do that.......
The 1st block is the Open Hand Block. You can have all fingers up or thumb down when blocking. While training stay in place first and only move your body to the side after ....... The first block can be used to push or to pull your opponent, depending on your intentions after you block.
The 2nd and 3rd block are practically the same. It is the Forearm Vertical Block and the Forearm Vertical Block- Slam Down.
When you slam down, move the hand of the opponent to the side so that your next move will be easier to implement.
The 4th block is the Forearm Vertical Block-Parry. This technique is used for snaking in as you strike the opponent.
In empty hands use, an elbow hit is used at the same time you are about to snake in.......
The 5th block is the Direct Parry Block. Very good move for takedowns as you push with your left hand..... Same moves as in empty hands applications...
The 6th block is the Hand Slap Down. This technique is used when you want to createn distance from your opponent.
In both stick use and empty hands applications, a strike or a kick can be very good techniques to use........
