The 6 Basic Stick Blocks
Showing the 6 Stick Blocks and its applications....... Just Remember: Each block or stick block has its own advantage and disadvantage.
The main thing to take note is that, the stick block is just your first move and it takes only microseconds to initiate that block. What is Important is what you will do after that first block. I always emphasize Continuity of Movements which is a very important for everyone.
That is Why developing our Reflex Speed is very important because there is no more time to think and analyze specially on the first few seconds of a fight. Our background and training takes over from that point.......
Train on the 6 Stick Blocks in its proper form and slow movements at first...
HOW TO TRAIN THESE TECHNIQUES:
A. STATIC/NO FOOT MOVEMENTS, RIGHT FOOT LEAD
B. STATIC/NO FOOT MOVEMENTS, LEFT FOOT LEAD
* ON "A" and "B" STAY WITHIN ARMS LENGTH FROM YOUR SPARRING PARTNER IF YOU HAVE ONE OR IMAGINE FACING ONE IF YOU ARE TRAINING SOLO.
NO MATTER HOW UNEASY YOU FEEL ON DOING PARTS, "A" and "B" JUST DO IT BECAUSE YOU MUST PERFECT THE TECHNIQUE AT THESE 2 POSITIONS FIRST.
C. NOW ADD FOOT MOVEMENTS BY MOVING TO YOU LEFT SIDE OR RIGHT SIDE AS YOU USE THE 6 STICK BLOCKS.
AS YOU GO LEFT OR RIGHT, YOU HAVE A CHOICE OF GOING FORWARD OR BACKWARD DEPENDING ON WHAT SIDE OF YOUR BODY IS BEING ATTACKED.......
